EFCC Arrests Football Agent for Alleged N11m Fraud
Benin City, Nigeria | April 9, 2026
Operatives of the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested one Osagie Destiny Etinosa over an alleged N11 million fraud.
According to the Commission, the suspect was apprehended through open-source intelligence after allegedly posing as a football agent on Instagram, using the handle @officialking_etto. He reportedly claimed to specialise in connecting aspiring footballers with foreign clubs for trials and recruitment opportunities.
In one reported case, Etinosa allegedly collected the sum of N11,000,000 from a victim, Samuel Beke Ohazuruike, with the promise of securing football trials in clubs based in Romania and Bulgaria. The promised opportunities, however, never materialised, and all efforts by the victim to recover his funds were unsuccessful.
The EFCC stated that investigations are ongoing and confirmed that the suspect will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of preliminary procedures.
The Commission reiterated its warning to the public to remain vigilant and verify the authenticity of individuals or organisations offering overseas opportunities, particularly on social media platforms.
