Abuja, Nigeria | April 8, 2026

The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, has emphasised that effective collaboration with key stakeholders remains essential to securing Nigeria’s maritime domain.

The CNS made this known in a press statement, stressing that the complexity of maritime security challenges requires a coordinated and inclusive approach involving relevant government agencies, international partners, and local communities.

According to him, the Nigerian Navy cannot operate in isolation, noting that strong partnerships are critical in tackling issues such as piracy, illegal fishing, crude oil theft, and other maritime crimes within Nigeria’s territorial waters.

He highlighted ongoing efforts by the Navy to strengthen inter-agency cooperation and enhance information sharing mechanisms, which have contributed to improved surveillance and response capabilities across the nation’s maritime space.

The CNS further reaffirmed the Navy’s commitment to sustaining these collaborations under its strategic framework, aimed at ensuring the safety of Nigeria’s waterways and the protection of vital national assets.

The statement underscores the importance of unity of effort in safeguarding the maritime environment and reflects the Navy’s resolve to work closely with stakeholders in advancing national security objectives.

The Nigerian Navy continues to call for sustained support and cooperation from all stakeholders as it intensifies operations to secure the country’s maritime domain.
