Advancing Maritime Cooperation Across Africa

The Secretary-General of the Maritime Organization of West and Central Africa, Paul Adalikwu, is set to participate in the 6th Sea Power for Africa Symposium, a high-level gathering focused on strengthening maritime collaboration across the continent.
Scheduled to hold from June 1 to June 4, 2026, in Lagos, the symposium will bring together maritime leaders, security experts, and policymakers to deliberate on strategies for enhancing maritime security, governance, and regional cooperation.
The event forms part of activities marking the anniversary celebrations of the Nigerian Navy, and is expected to provide a platform for dialogue on critical issues such as piracy, maritime trade, and the protection of Africa’s coastal resources.
Participants will explore innovative approaches to maritime leadership and partnership, with a view to fostering a safer and more secure maritime environment across West and Central Africa.
The symposium underscores the growing importance of collaboration among African nations in addressing shared maritime challenges and advancing sustainable development within the blue economy.
