Financial Literacy: NNPC Foundation Trains Batch A Stream 2 Corps Members

Abuja, Nigeria — April 29, 2026

The NNPC Foundation Ltd./Gte has continued its corporate social responsibility drive on youth empowerment with the training of Batch A, Stream 2 corps members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in financial literacy and entrepreneurship.
The training, which took place over the weekend at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Kubwa, Abuja, forms part of the Foundation’s nationwide initiative aimed at equipping young Nigerians with practical financial and business management skills.

Organised in collaboration with the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) scheme, the programme featured sessions on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and business development. Participants also underwent a financial literacy assessment, a “Kick Start My Business” course, and business proposal pitching exercises designed to prepare them for real-world enterprise challenges.

Managing Director of NNPC Foundation, Emmanuella Arukwe, represented by the Head of Programme Management, Rose Okonkwo, disclosed that the initiative has so far trained over one million corps members across the country.

She emphasized the Foundation’s commitment to empowering youths with the knowledge and tools needed to achieve financial independence.
In his remarks, Acting Director of SAED, Usman Yahaya, lauded the NNPC Foundation for its sustained partnership and support. He encouraged corps members to take advantage of the programme by acquiring multiple skills during their service year, noting that such competencies would position them as job creators rather than job seekers.

The programme builds on previous successes, including last year’s support to 531 young entrepreneurs who received starter packs and financial assistance to launch their businesses. Many of the beneficiaries have since recorded measurable growth in their respective ventures.
Through its financial literacy programme, the NNPC Foundation continues to play a pivotal role in fostering entrepreneurship, promoting self-reliance, and contributing to Nigeria’s broader economic development .
