Kwara State, Nigeria, Sunday, April 26, 2026

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a shipment of the terror-linked drug known as Captagon in Kwara State, as part of a series of nationwide anti-narcotics operations.

In a separate incident, a businessman was also arrested after allegedly excreting 45 wraps of cocaine during interrogation, according to the agency’s report.

The NDLEA Chairman, Brigadier General Buba Marwa (retd.), assured that Captagon will not gain a foothold in Nigeria, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to blocking the entry and circulation of illicit and dangerous substances in the country.

As part of ongoing nationwide operations, NDLEA operatives also destroyed 20,000 kilograms of skunk in a forest in Cross River State. In Edo State, officers recovered 1.1 million pills of opioids, while in Niger State, 394 improvised explosive device (IED) materials were seized during coordinated enforcement actions.

The agency noted that these operations reflect intensified efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks, curb substance abuse, and prevent the use of illicit drugs to fund criminal and terrorist activities.

NDLEA reiterated its resolve to sustain aggressive nationwide operations aimed at safeguarding public health and national security.
