President Tinubu Meets Progressive Governors, Charges on Peaceful Party Primaries

President Bola Tinubu has met with governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urging them to ensure the peaceful conduct of party primaries in their respective states.

The governors, led by the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Abdulrahman Abdulrazak, and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, met with the President at the State House in Abuja.

The meeting, which lasted about thirty minutes, was held behind closed doors and focused on preparations for upcoming party primaries and the need to maintain unity and order within the party.

Speaking after the meeting, the governors disclosed that President Tinubu, as leader of the party, had provided clear guidance on the conduct of the primaries. They noted that the directive emphasized fairness, transparency, and peaceful engagement among party members throughout the process.

The governors further assured that they would take responsibility for ensuring that the primaries in their states are conducted in line with the President’s directive, with a focus on preventing disputes and fostering internal cohesion.

The engagement highlights the importance of coordinated leadership within the All Progressives Congress as political activities intensify ahead of future elections, with stakeholders expected to adhere strictly to party guidelines and democratic principles.
