Minister of Information and National Orientation Receives Vanguard Award

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has received the Image Maker Award 2026 conferred on him by Vanguard Media Limited, describing the recognition as a testament to ongoing efforts to build trust within Nigeria’s communication ecosystem and support the Federal Government’s reform agenda.
The award was presented at a ceremony held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, where the Minister noted that the honour comes at a critical period for the country, characterized by bold reforms and renewed commitment to sustainable national development.
Speaking at the event, Idris emphasized the importance of fostering open dialogue between government and citizens, noting that effective communication has played a vital role in bridging gaps in public perception and strengthening trust in governance. He highlighted the significance of timely and accurate information dissemination, particularly in matters of national security, adding that the Ministry continues to collaborate with security agencies and media partners to maintain public calm and confidence.
The Minister also acknowledged the contributions of the media, his colleagues in government, and staff of the Ministry in advancing Nigeria’s communication framework. He commended Vanguard Media Limited for its commitment to excellence and for recognizing individuals dedicated to national service.
Reaffirming his commitment to transparency, accountability, and truth in public communication, Idris stated that the award serves not as an endpoint but as a call to further service for the Nigerian people.
The event was attended by several prominent Nigerians, including Peter Mbah, Agbu Kefas, as well as ministers and other dignitaries. Also present was Matthew Hassan Kukah, reflecting the broad representation of stakeholders at the ceremony.
